Periods 1 and 2 Accelerated Algebra 1, grade 9
Objective: Students will write number in scientific notation and learn to multiply powers with scientific notation in order to solve real-world problems. Following the warm up, students practiced scientific notation and took a brief quiz on negative and zero exponents and scientific notation, and then began the lesson on multiplying powers.
Period 2 missed class today because of the HSA pep rally.
Classwork Assignments: Text pp 400-404, #1-33 odds, and #53-57.
Homework: Read examples on pp 405-409, and answer Check for Understanding questions.
Period 2: Be prepared for a quiz on negative and zero esponents, and scientific notation on Tuesday.
4th Quarter projects will be distributed next week.
Period 3 Math Studies IB grade 11
Objective: Students will debrief on the IB Math exams, and prepare recommendations for next year's class.

Periods 1 and 2 Honors Geometry, grade 9
Objective: Students will practice and be assessed on finding area of polygons before beginning work on circles and arcs. Following the warm up, students were assigned practice review on the previous lesson of calculating the area of regular polygons. A brief quiz of Chap 7-1 through 7-5 was then distributed.
Assignment: P.370 #33,p.372#47&48, p.385 #53, p.393 #76-78.
Homework : Read pp. 386-389, do Check for understanding problems with each example (5 problems)
***NOTE*** Due to the disruptive behavior of a few students in period 2, the quiz given today will be re-scheduled for Friday.

If there are any corrections to be made, students must staple the graded paper to the progress report, and highlight which assignment is recorded incorrectly. Then Mrs.Dennard taught the new lesson, and students took notes and started on the practice assignment in small groups. Assignment: Text pp. 380-383,#1-20, and #18-32 evens.
Homework - Practice sheet 7-5 on the back of the warm up sheet.
Next quiz is Thursday, May 6 on Chapter 7-1 through 7-5.

Objective: Students will continue to review any problem areas remaining to best prepare for the IB Paper 1 exam tomorrow.Following the warm up, students worked in small groups on specific problem areas. During 4th period, students were released from Mrs. Carney's class for the last 45 minutes to work with Mrs.Dennard in room A238. At that time students read the examination advice in Oxford text pp 414-418. Students would be wise to read this again tonite.
Homework: Continue to practice exam problems as needed, but please STOP at about 6pm and relax this evening. Get to sleep a little earlier than usual so you are well rested for tomorrow. Remember, you have had assignments in each and every objective of this course and you are prepared to do very well indeed!

Following the warm up, all papers collected to date wer returned to students, and Mrs. Dennard reviewed the interim progress reports grades with each student. The homework due today was reviewd, and students took notes on zero and negative exonents. Students then worked in small groups on the practice assignment before taking a brief exit quiz on today's lesson.
Assignment: Text p. 397 #17-45 odd only.
Homework: PP 397-398, #46-78, multiples of three.

Following the warm- u[, Mrs. Dennard returned all papers and tests turned in to date. Students also received a list of all assignments received(progress report.) Several students gave a presentation on solving truth tables with the gdc, and Mrs. Dennard answered questions about the Calculus unit test.
Assignment; As needed for exam review: Oxford pp 111-113, Paper 1,#1-5 and paper 2 ,#1,2,3. pp 166-169, Paper 1 # 2 - 6, and pp. 224-228, Paper 1 # 1,3,4,5,6, and paper 2, #2 & 4.

Following the warm up, Mrs. Dennard answered questions about the homework, and taught the new lesson, and students practised problems, working in small groups. Period 2 students received interim grade sheets. All graded papers, homework and quizzes were returned to students.
Assignment: Text pp 373-378, # 1-20, 27,29,32,36,38.
Homework: Text p.96,#1-12
Next quiz Thursday, May 8, Chapters 7-4 and 7-5.

Objective: Students will demonstrate understanding and skill in all objectives of the Introductory Differential Calculus Unit test today.
Homework: Complete Friday's warm up problem before Monday; also prepare 3 questions from each unit that you'd like some help with.
On Monday, we will practice IB exam problems from the Oxford text, Units 2,3 &4 on Monday, and 4,5, 6,7 on Tuesday, so make sure you have that with you.
I will be at Parkdale on Saturday morning for IB exam tutoring from 9 to 11:30. Students should meet me in the front lobby at 9am.
The IB Math Studies exams are : Wednesday, May 5, Math Studies SL Paper one. This exam is 90 minutes, from noon to 2pm in Room 106.
The Paper two exam is scheduled for Thursday morning,*:00 to 10:00 am,in room 106.
Students must be in full uniform and wearin their school ID displayed in front of them (on a lanyard). Students should bring at least two black pens for each exam. Calculators and formula sheets will be available in the testing room.
Students are encouraged to make sure they get a good nights sleep in the day immediately preceding the test. Please eat a good breakfast on the day of the test, and a light snack to have before the test.
All IB texts are to be returned on Friday, May 7. At that time we resume class with the Pre-calculus agenda.

Following the warm up, and a biref questiona nd answer session, Mrs. Dennard distributed the Unit 4 Test. After the test, students were directed to begin work on our next section.
Homework: Text pp 394-397, all Check for Understanding problems, and # 1-16.

Objective: Students will work in small groups on any calculus problems and ask the teacher if 3 others don't know. Following the warm up, students continued to work on their group projects, and clarify remaining questions in the calculus unit.
The second Calculus quiz was returned to students, and error analyses are due tomorrow. Also due tomorrow - the topic summaries prepared by each group. Poster on What to Know in the Unit, and typed summary must be turned in before class begins. Failure to do so will result in a score penalty to all members of the group.
