B Day

Periods 1 and 2 Accelerated Algebra 1, grade 9
Objective: Students will practice solving linear inequalities and demonstrate skill in a brief quiz. Following the warm up, students were given a set of practice problems to complete, working in small groups. The 1st period class took the quiz on inequalities, and the second period class had more questions as they worked on the practice problems.
All students received their graded quiz on inequalities and absolute value. All students were assiged to do an error analysis to improve their scores as well as their understanding. The rubric for the error analysis is stapled to the front of each quiz. If a student earns 100% on the error analysis and turns it in on time (4/19), she/he may select to average this with the original score, or come to the Tuesday tutoring session to do a re-take of the quiz.(same topics, different questions)If you choose to retake the quiz, you will keep the score for that quiz only.
Homework: Complete the error analysis for the quiz. Period 2 has the quiz to take on Monday.

Next weeK: Systems of inequalities on Monday, Review for the Unit 4 test on Wednesday, and the Unit 4 test on Friday!

Work hard - get smart!~

Period 3 Math Studies, IB, grade 11
Objective: Students will learn to calculate the gradient of a curve, and to write the equation of a tangent of a curve. Following the warm up, Mrs. Dennard answered several questions about the homework, and students took a brief quiz on Differential Calculus. This took the remainder of the class period.
Homework: Complete the 5 problems in 19F (if not done already) Read section G on The Second Derivative, take notes, and do the 2 problems in 19G; then read section H Changing Shape, take notes on how to identify monotonicity, and do 19H.1 and 19H.2.
Please check out the DVD on this topic, as noted on page 623. This will be part of our class work tomorrow. So if you'll be in class, you can wait on this.
