A Day

Periods 1 and 2 Honors Geometry, grade 9

Objective: Students will practice and be assessed on finding area of polygons before beginning work on circles and arcs. Following the warm up, students were assigned practice review on the previous lesson of calculating the area of regular polygons. A brief quiz of Chap 7-1 through 7-5 was then distributed.
Assignment: P.370 #33,p.372#47&48, p.385 #53, p.393 #76-78.
Homework : Read pp. 386-389, do Check for understanding problems with each example (5 problems)
***NOTE*** Due to the disruptive behavior of a few students in period 2, the quiz given today will be re-scheduled for Friday.

Next week: Circles and review for Unit 7 test.

Period 3 Math Studies IB, grade 11
No class today - students used this time to prepare for the IB Geography test.

Tomorrow Friday May 7: Pot luck lunch to celebrate the end of the IB exams YAY!!!in room A-238 - please bring food to share!! I will supply soft drinks, utensils, plates and napkins.

B Day

Periods 1 and 2 Accelerated Algebra 1, grade 9

Objective: Students will learn to write numbers in scientific notation and standard notation in order to list the planets based on their masses. Following the warm up. students were assigned a practice review of the previous lesson on negative and zero exponents. Mrs. Dennard retaught that lesson,students were assigned additional practice, and each worked out a problem on the board. Sudents retook a brief quiz on that topic, and then started on the new lesson on scientific notation. We ran out of time before we could get very far with scientific notation, so we will renew this lesson when we meet again on Friday.
Assignment: Text pp.397-398,#34,38,42,45,74,77. Also#4,8,12,16,20,24,28,32,36,40,44.
Homework: Back of warm up "Using Square Numbers".

There will be a brief quiz on Friday on Negative and Zero exponents and scientific notation.

Period 3 Math Studies IB, grade 11

Students sat for Paper One of the IB exams.... I hope you did very well!!!
