A Day 5/27/11

Period A1 Geometry Grades 10-12
Objective:Students will demonstrate knowledge and skill in all objectives in Unit 5. Following the warm up, Mrs.Dennard answered questions about the homework and assigned practice problems to get ready for the test. The was a practice fire drill, and wehn we returned Mrs.Dennard distributed the tests. No homework this weekend.
Warm Up: Text p.281,#5, p.282,#11.
Assignment: P. 692 #2-30 evens only.
No Homework this weekend.
Next week - Chapter 6.

Period 3 Math Studies IB Grade 11
Objective: Students reviewed the objectives for Chapter 5.3 and 5.4 in order to prepare for the Mid Chapter quiz re-scheduled for next Tuesday. Following the warm up, Mrs.Dennard distributed recent corrected homework and reviewed problems with students. Students woked individually and in pairs to make corrections.
Warm Up: Text p. 518, #33,39,45.
Assignment: Text p. 583, #36-38 all.
Be prepared for the quiz on Tuesday!!!


Period A4 Honors Geometry Grade 9
Objective: Students will determine whether a quadrilateral is a parallelogram in order to use a parallel rule to plot a ship's course. Following the warm up, Mrs. Dennard taught the new lesson, and went over several problems with students befora assigning the practice problems.
Warm Up: Text:pp.298-299, #34,35,36.
Assignment: Text pp.303-307, #1-16.
Homework: Text p300, #44-52, 55.and P.308, #19-30.
Be prepared for a quiz on Ch 6.1 through 6.3 next class.

Objective: Students will review and practice all objectives in Unit 5 io order to prepare for the Unit 5 test on Friday. Following the warm up, Mrs.Dennard answered questions and went over each question of the review pack.

Homework assignment: Text p. 284 all
Bonus 3 points for all questions in the chapter 5 review !!!

Period 3 Math Studies IB/Pre-Calculus grade 11
Objective: Students will evaluate trigonometric functions of real numbers and periodic functions. Following the warm up, Mrs.Dennard answered questions about the homework, and assigned classwork for practice on pp511-518, #43-52.
Warm Up: Text p.510#46,86,99.
Homework Assignment: p.582, #5,6,16,17,19,20,21,23,24,31,34,39,49,57.
Quiz 5-2 Chapter Sections 5.1 through 5.4 is tomorrow.

Periods B1 and B2 Honors geometry grade 9
Objective: Students will use relationships among sides and angles of parallelograms and use relationships involving diagonal of parallelograms woth transversals.
Following the warm up, Mrs.Dennard took questions from the warm up,and reviewed Ch6.1 before assigning the practice in 6.2.

Period B1 Assignment: pp. 294-299,#34-55.

Period 3 IB Math Studies/Pre-Calculus grade 11
Objective: Students will evaluate trigonometric functions of real numbers and periodic functions. Following the warm up, Mrs.Dennard took questions on the homework, and began to explain the initial examples in Ch 5.4 when 2 IB graduates of PHS class of 2009 stopped by to talk about their college experiences to date, and talk about how valuable excellent study skills are when you are carrying the weight of all that college freedom. Both told us thre rigor of the PHS IB Program gave them a strong advantage as college freshmen.

Assignment. Checkpt Q. #1-4, #3-42,multiples of 3, and #43-52 all.
There will be a closed book quiz on Chapter 5.1 through 5.4 on Thursday.

Objective: Students will review and practice for the Unit 5 Test on Friday.
Following the warm up, Mrs.Dennard distributed the Unit 5 Review Pack, and answered questions as students worked through the problems. Students must finish any work on this before the next class.
Warm Up: Text p.282-283, #20,22,33,39.
Assignment: Unit 5 Review Pack

Period 3 IB Math Studies/PreCalculus grade 11
Objective: Students will use the definitions and signs of trig functions at any angle; and find reference angles to any angle. Following the warm up, Mrs. Dennard took questions about the homework, and assigned practice for this chapter.
Warm Up: Text p.497, #79,80,92.
Assignment: Text pp 510-511, multiples of 5; #5-105.

Period 4A Honors Geometry grade 9
Objective: Students will demonstrate knowledge and skill in solving all problems within Unit 5. Following the warm up, Mrs.Dennard answered questions before distributing the Unit 5 Test. After the test, students began work on Chapter 6.1 on identifying quadrilaterals.
Warm Up: p.284, #15 and 23.
Assignment: Text pp. 288-291,C.U.Qs. #1-3 and #1-24.

Period B1 Honors Geometry grade 9
Objective: Students will use relationships among sides and among angles of parallelograms in order to divide a blank card into three part of equal height without a ruler. Following the warm up, Mrs.Dennard answered questions on the homework. Several sets of graded papers were returned to students. Error analyses of the quiz on 5-1 to 5-3 were collected.
Warm Up: Text pp.282-283, #20,22,33,39.
Assignment: pp.294-295 CU# 1&2, problems #1-16pp. 297-298.
Homework: Complete classwork.

Period B2 Honors Geometry grade 9
Objective:Students will demonstrate competence and understanding of all objectives in Unit 5. Following the warm up. Mrs.Dennard answered questions on the Unit 5 Review pack, and then distributed the test.
Warm Up: Text pp.282-283,#20,22,33,39.
Assignment: Text p. 288-291, C.U.#1-3, and problems # 1-24.

Period 3 IB Math Studies grade 11
OBJECTIVE: Students will demonstrate skill in all objectives in Trig sections 5-1 and 5-2. Following the warm up, Mrs. Dennard answered questions on 5-1 and 5-2, then the quizz questions were identified. Students had the remainder of thime for the open book quizz.
Warm Up: Text p. 495, #2,9,18.
Assignment: Text pp. 498-507. READ the examples and Do all Checkpoint problems #1-8.

B Day, 5/6/11


Periods B1 and B2, Honors Geometry, grade 9
Objective: Students will review and practice solving inequalities in order to prepare for solving for inequalities in triangles. Following the waarm up, Mrs.Dennard assigned the review and practice assignment. As students worked, Mrs.Dennard called each student to her desk to discuss the interim progress report score. The quiz taken this week was returned to students. Students choosing to do an Error Analysis to improve their score must follow all procedures to get credit! That is - explain the error in sentences, Solve it correctly, mathematically. And EXPLAIN how you solved correctly, using sentences. Missing any part of the EA means NO CREDIT!

P. 272 #3-33,multiples of 3, and p. 273-275, C.U.#1-5 and problems # 1-21.

A Day 5/5/11

Period A1 Geometry, grades 10-12
Objective: Students will demonstrate skill in identifying properties of midsegments and types of lines within a triangle in a quiz on lessons 5.1 through 5.3.
Following the warm up, Mrs. Dennard took questions on the homework, and distributed the quiz. Mrs. Dennard started to teach the next lesson on inverse and contrapositives of conditional statements, but the lesson was cut short.
Warm Up: Text p. 262, #37,38 & 39.
Assignment: Text pp. 264-269, #1-10.

Period A4 Honors Geometry grade 9
Objective: Students will practice using inequalities involving angles and sides of triangles in order to locate the largest corners in a yard. Following the warm up, Mrs. Dennard answered questions on the homework, and assigned the practice for today.All papers received by Wednesday were graded entered inro schoolmax and returned to students today. Error Analyses for the Quiz on Triangle Bisectors and midsegments id due on Monday. Make-up testing was held after school for any student who missed the quiz on Tuesday.
Warm Up: Text p.270, #47,48,49.
Assignment: Text pp273-276, #20-27, and 31-37.
Be prepared for a lesson quiz next class.

Period 3 Math Studies grade 11

All tests on Geometry/Trig and Financial Math were returned to students yesterday. Since all IB students are taking exams this week, there are no assignments. We will begin the Trigonometry/Pre-Calculus curriculum on Monday.
