A Day 10/14/11

Periods 2 and 4 Geometry
Objective: Students will recognize conditional statements and write the converse and the symbolic form for a conditional statement in order to read an advertisement critically. Following the warm Up, Mrs. Dennard taught the new lesson. Students worked on individual guided practice, and asked questions and they worked before receiving the assignment.
Assignment: Text pp 71-74: #2-32 evens; p. 73:#49,52 and 54-58; and p. 74: #64-67.
There was a brief exit quiz in Period 4.
Several people are missing their textbooks that they left in the classroom. If you took someone else's Geometry book out of the classroom and left it at home or in your locker, please bring these back to the classroom. These other students really need their books back! And PLEASE don't leave your textbook in the classroom! I cannot lock them up.

Period 3 IB Math Studies
Objective: Students will calculate X-squared test for independence in order to analyze two data sets business applications.
Following the warm up, there were many questions on the homework and warm up for Mrs. Dennard to answer. There was a brief presentation to the class by the senior IB students about homecoming. It is unfortunate that we could get to the objective today or the quiz that was scheduled due the long question and answer session - but also to many late and unprepared arrivals to this class. Late arrival will no longer be tolerated. Late students must get a pass before arriving late staring Monday.
Assignment: Oxford text: pp 327 and 328: Ex 6.8 # 1-5. Be prepared for a quiz on this weeks material on Monday.

Mrs. Dennard spoke firmly to this class about the consequences of socializing in this IB class. Please take my words seriously. I have warned you numerous times about this, and I will speak to Mrs. Terry about your continued candidacy in this program if certain individuals cannot practice better self-control during instruction!
